Programme Mandate & Overview
The National Automotive Design and Development Council formulates and oversees comprehensive policy frameworks for Nigeria's automotive manufacturing industry.
Key Mandate Deliverables & Objectives
Under the enabling statutory powers of the National Automotive Design and Development Council Act (Act No. 6 of 2014), the Council executes the following strategic mandates:
Formulating and coordinating the Nigerian Automotive Industry Development Plan (NAIDP 2023–2033) for long-term fiscal stability.
Granting zero-duty and low tariff concessions on Semi-Knocked-Down (SKD) and Completely-Knocked-Down (CKD) automotive component kits.
Collaborating with the Federal Ministry of Finance, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), and Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) to eliminate smuggling and guarantee automotive investment security.
Monitoring local assembly plants and component manufacturers to ensure compliance with federal local content benchmarks.
